Bert & Mac's has recently installed a brand new sharpening system from Blackstone Sports. Already recieving rave reviews from NHL teams, it is our pleasure to be Lethbridge's home for Flat Bottom V skate sharpening.
Total Hockey Professional Flat Bottom V Skate Sharpening
By utilizing a Patent Pending design, a blade sharpened with the FBV System has the flatness of a shallow hollow and the edges of a deep hollow (the depth of a 2 inch radius and the bite edges of a ½ inch radius). With a conventional sharpening, you have to choose between grip/bite and speed. With the FBV, you get both maximum bite and also maximum glide. With FBV your skates will never be the same!
A blade sharpened with FBV has a flat bottom and slightly raised edges
When gliding, you are on the flat which gives you awesome speed
When you turn and lean the skates, the edges dig in giving you great turning power
FBV does not alter your rocker radius or remove any additional steel
Runner can be easily resharpened back to a traditional hollow
Performed only with the Blackstone FBV Skate Sharpener
Blackstone reccomends that 90/75 as a good overall starting point w/ Minimal adjustment time
Sharpening Specs:
First number = The width of the flat part of the blade, in thousandths of an inch, after the sharpening.
Second number = The height between the edges of the blade and the flat area of the blade (in 10 millionths of an inch)
A different angle of edge is obtained by changing the first number and keeping the second consistent, thus producing a different feel and more or less edge when skating
FBV CONVERSION:
90/50 = 3/4
90/75 = 5/8
100/50 = 1/2
100/75 = 3/8
